Client is looking for a live-in Governess (M/F) that is high-energy, self-driven and hard-working to help with three children (boy 8, girl 6 and boy 3) in Aspen Colorado. Ideal candidate (M/F) should have a background in education and is passionate about teaching kids through games, puzzles and creative activities. This is a full-time position and requires a flexible schedule, especially when the kids are not in school. Ideal candidate speaks French and is also open to joining luxurious travel with family although those are not a hard requirement.
The Governess (M/F) will serve as Tutor/Educator (M/F) and will be responsible for the holistic education and development in a private household. This role includes both academic tutoring and personal development, ensuring that the children achieve their full potential in a nurturing and structured environment. The ideal candidate (M/F) will have a passion for education, strong organizational skills, and the ability to create a positive and stimulating learning environment. French speaker and being dog friendly is a plus - family has a Golden Retriever.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Educational Development:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver tailored educational lessons in core subjects, including mathematics, science, English, history, and foreign languages.
- Provide support for homework, school projects, and exam preparation.
- Assess the educational needs of the children and develop personalized learning plans.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
2. Holistic Child Development:
- Instill good manners, etiquette, and social skills.
- Encourage physical activities, hobbies, and extracurricular interests.
- Promote emotional well-being and confidence through positive reinforcement.
- Teach life skills, such as time management, personal organization, and problem-solving.
3. Curriculum Planning and Reporting:
- Design a balanced curriculum that aligns with the child’s school syllabus and personal learning goals.
- Monitor and track the child’s academic progress and provide regular reports to the parents.
- Identify areas of improvement and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Liaise with the child’s schoolteachers and other educators to ensure consistency in learning.
4. Household Coordination:
- Work collaboratively with other household staff to maintain a harmonious and efficient environment.
- Plan and organize educational outings, cultural visits, and other enrichment activities.
- Ensure the child’s daily schedule is well-organized and balanced between education, recreation, and rest.
5. Parental Communication:
- Maintain open and regular communication with the parents regarding the child’s progress and any concerns.
- Offer guidance on educational materials, resources, and strategies to support learning at home.
Profile requirement
- Background in Education.
- At least 2 years’ experience in either a school or as a nanny/governess (M/F).
- Can take ownership and design at-home curriculum for each child based on their level.
- High-energy, positive attitude and flexible.
- Moving/living full time in Aspen is a plus.
