Governess Job offer and Vacancy
An VIP American family based in California is looking for a qualified Governess who will take care of guiding and supporting 2 children (7-year-old boy and 6-year- old girl).
There is a nanny, a cook and a housekeeper on the property as well. The governess will be responsible for developing the children’s independence, teaching good attitude, proper manners, etiquette, encouraging imagination, psychological and social development, helping with their homework, managing additional education processes and free time activities.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience working for a private family
- Pedagogical education
- Master’s Degree TESOL teaching qualification would be a plus
- Fluent English speaker
- Native German and/or French speaker
- Ability to teach German and/or French
- Well educated and well informed on most subjects
- First Aid certificate is required
- Ability to play musical instruments would be a plus
- Impeccable manners and etiquette shared with the children
- Positive attitude to unexpected situations
- Solution orientated, patient
- Responsible, confident, respectful, discreet
- Driving license
Duties and responsibilities
- Supervising the preparation of homework, exams, additional tasks
- Every evening preparing the children for school ensuring the children’s bags, books and food are ready as required
- Daily collection of the kids from school
- Liaison with the children’s school and teachers
- Regular reporting to the parents on school progress
- Managing attendance of concerts, theater, museums, exhibitions
- Reading books with the children
- Helping children to manage personal belongings, bedrooms, play areas
- Promoting the children’s health through diverse activities and games (fun or sports)
- Walking with the kids
- Travelling with the children and ensuring all travel arrangements
Accommodation
This is a live-out position. Separate apartment provided
Salary
Salary negotiable, depending on qualifications, skills and experience
Trial period – 8 weeks
Schedule
- Monday – Friday: 02:00 p.m. -10 p.m
- Saturday – Sunday: day off
- Occasional weekends.
